The Alliance warships continue their desperate battle against the Creeps, who threaten to overwhelm their defenses, edging ever closer to the civilizations that the fleet seeks to protect. Deep inside the Void, a gap formed by two spiral arms, Commander Trenn’s ‘Dog Squad’ of misfit Marines attempt the capture of a Creep warship, disabled by the heavy cruiser Bulwark. In the shadow of the ruined planet Nex, Bulwark’s captain is ordered to return to Cytress Vee, and surrender the captured vessel to another captain. He must decide whether to obey his new orders without question, or defy his Alliance commanders in order to strike a vital blow against the Creeps. Whichever path he chooses, Trenn’s Marines must support him, leading them into new dangers and new adventures.
