Book Review - Legionnaire (Galaxy's Edge Book 1)

In Legionnaire by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole there is definitely a sense of being in the military. Although the swearing is reduced by the acronym KTF, there is still plenty of it. If you aren't sure what that acronym stands for, you'll know what it means by the end of the book. :) The authors do a great job of enveloping you in the military unit. There is the usual sense of comradery, the drooling over weapons, etc, but there are several other layers that make this experience even better. First, about a third of the way into the book, you have a sense of how each man has his part to play. Someone is watching someone else's back. Also, I love, love, loved how the authors made up a word just for inexperienced people in command (unless it really is a military term that I haven't heard of). You know I hate to do spoilers, and if you've never heard the term, I want you to learn it the way I did. It's priceless. The point is, though, in the military someone dies when people make mistakes. The worst possible scenario is to get assigned underneath someone who has no experience and won't listen to your experience either. Also, just like in the real world, veterans give the newly recruited military a hard time. In any case, I better stop talking before I give away too much of the story. I really liked the book, but hope that there will be more where that came from. The next book in the series doesn't spend much time talking about what actually happened in this one. Anyway, lots of military science fiction with science fiction toys to your hearts content.
